The concept of house boats is new in Danish Tourism. Hvide Sande Tourist Bureau was the first to introduce houseboats, by offering the boats out for holiday rentals. The boats have been developed as residences of the future, and are moored in many of Denmark?s beautiful harbour environments that have outlived their original purpose.

There are now for example approximately 100 - 700 houseboat moorings in Copenhagen. The houseboats at Hvide Sande have no motor and are built on floating foundations. They are anchored in "Tyskerhavn" in Ringkøbing Fjord. The boats, built in 2004, are luxuriously fitted out, and enjoy views over Ringkøbing Fjord. Running hot and cold water, electricity and central heating is installed. Services are metered and renters pay according to use. Parking is available by the houseboats.
